Session Title: Now That We Are in Person, How Do I Wean My Classroom Off Desmos? (Hint: You Don't!)

Description: In this session, participants will discover ways to effectively utilize Desmos activities in a class full of in-person students. Participants will learn Desmos facilitation strategies that consistently enable students to engage with the teacher, engage with the mathematics, and engage with each other. Participants should have at least minor proficiency with facilitating a Desmos activity and will leave with additional expertise in utilizing the built in features of Desmos, including Pace, Pause, Anonymize, Snapshots, and the Teacher Dashboard.

We will focus on the shifts in planning and preparation needed for successful implementation! This session will be differentiated based on familiarity with the IM materials and platform.

Session Title: Do You Want to Build a Desmos?!

Description: Participants that join this session will embark on a journey of building a Desmos activity from scratch. If you are interested in attending this session, email Chris Wright ([email protected]) with ideas for an activity. The presenter will utilize participation from the audience to build an activity using Desmos components in clever ways and, participant pending, some Computation Layer. The session will be recorded, so learning won't stop at the end of the session - feel free to go back and rewatch at your own pace to acquire those Desmos building skills!

Session Title: Number Talks to address Unfinished Learning and Build Metacognition

Description: We will model Number Talks as a beginning-of-class ritual that activates necessary prior knowledge, builds fluency, and improves mathematical communication. This session includes a Number Talk designed for the first lesson of the Algebra 1 curriculum, several useful visual models, and Integrates Desmos Activities.

Session Title: Getting Started with Discovery Education Experience and Math Techbook 100 Level

Description: Participants will learn how to navigate Discovery Education Experience and Math Techbook. Throughout the session, educators will learn how to easily access Discovery Education through Schoology; navigate Discovery Education Experience, including reviewing the home page, exploring channels, and searching for content; access specific channels for math, student learning activities, SOS strategies, SEL, and ELL; and build foundation of practical and functional navigation of Math Techbook in order to build teacher competency around usage in the classroom anytime, anywhere.
