The Department of Organizational Development is comprised of three main offices: Leadership Development, Professional Development and Training, and Teacher Development. In addition to these offices, Organizational Development also monitors the Title II, Part A - Systems of Support for Excellent Teaching and Leading Grant Program. The purpose of this title is to provide grants to State educational agencies and sub-grants to local educational agencies to:
- increase student achievement consistent with the challenging State academic standards;
- improve the quality and effectiveness of teachers, principals, and other school leaders;
- increase the number of teachers, principals, and other school leaders who are effective in improving student academic achievement in schools; and
- provide low-income and minority students greater access to effective teachers, principals, and other school leaders.
Leadership Development
- Develops and implements trainings for current BCPS leaders
- Develops and implements training for BCPS staff who aspire to positions of leadership
Professional Development and Training
- Provides technical training for new and experienced employees
- Manages the use of Baltimore County Public School systems such as the Online Registration System and Professional Development Cycle
Teacher Development
- Coordinates the Professional Development Schools (PDS) Program and the placement of interns ("student teachers")
- Coordinates systemwide Professional Study Days for teachers and other professionals
- Provides comprehensive professional learning opportunities for new teachers during the three year induction period
- Organizes courses for continuing professional development (CPD) credit and college credit, including cohort programs
- Leads professional learning on coaching and mentoring skills for Staff Development Teachers, Consulting Teachers, and other teacher leaders
Resource Centers
- Provides instructional resources for students, families, educators, and community members
- Offers training, in-service, and teacher and parent development activities designed to support student learning
