Equity Training

The Department of Equity and Cultural Proficiency (DECP) partners with stakeholders to create instructional environments that support academic rigor, access cultural relevance and relationships that ignite the potential of each and every student as the norm. DECP works to build the capacity of leaders to create inclusive environments that honor every student’s ability, race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, socioeconomic status, language, and sexual orientation, thus ensuring every student is skilled and able to be globally competitive in a culturally rich society and macro economy.

The department also monitors compliance with the Maryland State Department of Education's Education That is Multicultural regulation and provides a professional library for BCPS staff related to issues of equity and access in schools and the classroom around multicultural education, racial and cultural awareness and diversity issues.
